The Importance of Preparation

I was going to start counting calories today.

It didn't happen, not because I didn't try but because I did.

Let me explain. I was all ready to count calories and I did for breakfast (about 600 calories) and it wasn't enough. Not even with my midmorning snack (about 150). I started getting dizzy around 12 pm, an hour and a half from lunch. Not good.

So I got home from work and ate a full (undisclosed) meal. Why did I fail today? I was not prepared. I should have planned my meals out better. I think the main issues was that my breakfast didn't fill me. I was going to make a protein shake tomorrow to go with some grains but then i found that my blender is missing *sigh*.

So what was the lesson? I need to prepare my house and plans more than I did. I need to get a blender for sure, I need to get tools to measure my progress (a scale and measuring tape come to mind) . Lastly, and i think this is most important, I need to plan out some meals and how many calories I can account to each meal.

Not to say I'm not doing better. I resolve to not buy any fast food lunches for this week and make everything at home. As we all should know, eating out is not that great every day, which I sadly have been doing. So many calories you'll never know about.

Speaking of calories....

The internet is full of calorie calculators, I used http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm today. Putting my numbers in, for weight loss at my (currently low) level of excercise, I can eat about 2800 calories a day to loose weight constantly. When the workouts begin (shout out to Bort) my count will go up due to increased energy demands from my body. I read somewhere that you are to recalculate every 5 lbs you loose to make up for the calories that the body burns to maintain itself (fat cells included)

  1. What I like is that you're finding logical things which are your current obstacles and you don't seem to be letting these things get you down emotionally. Keep it up. :D Can't expect to be winning from the get-go. If this were easy, it wouldn't be an issue right?
